KeymasterCan you mention the best seats at Cambridge Theatre for Matilda the Musical? Are the stalls better than the dress circle for seeing the stage clearly? I’ve heard some seats on the far sides have limited views, so which ones should I avoid? Also, is it really worth paying extra for front stalls, or do mid-stalls offer a similar experience?

GuestHaving seen Matilda at the Cambridge quite a few times, here’s what I’ve found:
– **Stalls:** The central stalls (roughly rows E–J, seats 7–21) give the most immersive view. You’re close to the stage but far enough back to take in the whole set. The rake is decent, so you don’t get a lot of heads blocking you. Avoid the very rear stalls if you can – the Dress Circle overhang starts around row L and can cut off the top of the stage – and steer clear of the extreme side blocks where the action can feel side‑on.
– **Dress Circle:** The front of the Dress Circle offers a fantastic perspective on the choreography and staging. Rows A–C in the centre (seats 12–24) are the premium spots and worth paying for if you like an elevated view. Prices drop further back and to the sides; seats on the very sides do have a restricted view because the auditorium curves, so stick to the middle.
– **Upper Circle:** Great for those on a tighter budget, but be aware it’s high and steep. The front few rows (A–C) give a surprisingly clear view, but rows further back or at the extreme sides are restricted by safety rails or lean bars.
Personally I’d go for mid stalls or front Dress Circle depending on your budget. Both offer a clear, unobstructed view; you don’t have to pay top premium to get a great experience, but it’s worth avoiding the far sides and the very back.
